Cultural understanding by international students at UEC through school visits (December 2022)
本学留学生が桐朋女子高等学校にて出張講義を開催 (2022年12月)
On December 10th and 13th, 2022, a school visit by an international student of our university was held at Toho Girls' Junior and Senior High School. After the welcome speech in English by the student at the school, Luis Bringas, a JUSST1 student talked about his university, Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Mexican food culture, and recommended locations to visit in his home country. He also shared his studies on hand gesture recognition research in Takahashi laboratory at the University of Electro-Communications. He gave a lecture in English, and according to the impressions of the students who listened enthusiastically through the lecture, they were intrigued to hear about the origins of the name, Mexico (Metizili (moon), xicili (center), and co (place)), the mexican food culture, the beautiful nature in Mexico, and about Luis’ research on hand gesture recognition that can be used for future medical treatment.

2022年12月10日及び13日に、桐朋女子高等学校にて、本学留学生による学校訪問が行われました。桐朋女子高等学校による英語での歓迎スピーチの後、電気通信大学JUSST1 学生のLuis Bringasさんは、出身大学であるメキシコ国立工科大学 (Instituto Politécnico Nacional）や食文化、おすすめの観光地などについて話してくれました。また、電気通信大学の高橋研究室でのハンドジェスチャー認識研究についても紹介しました。英語における講演に、熱心に聴講した学生の感想では、メキシコの名前の由来（Metizili （月）、xicili（中心）、co（場所））、メキシコの食文化、メキシコの美しい自然、将来の医療に役立つLuis Bringasさんのハンドジェスチャー認識の研究について、興味深く聞いていました。

本学留学生が桐朋女子高等学校にて出張講義を開催 (2022年12月)
On December 14th, a school visit by an international student of our university was held at Toho Girls' Junior and Senior High School. After the welcome speech in English by the student at the school, Antonia Holsten, a JUSST student, talked about her university, The University of Bremen, German culture, and landscapes across Germany. She also shared her studies on robot learning in the Kudoh and Kimura laboratory at the University of Electro-Communications. She delivered her presentation in English. According to the feedback collected after the lecture, many students were fascinated to learn about the annual celebrations, working styles, and history in Germany, and Antonia’s research on bento-box packing by robots. They were also impressed to know that kebab, a meat dish originated from the middle east, is now very popular in Germany.

2022年12月14日に、桐朋女子高等学校にて、本学留学生による学校訪問が行われました。桐朋女子高等学校の生徒による英語での歓迎スピーチの後、電気通信大学JUSST留学生のAntonia Holstenさんが、出身大学であるブレーメン大学やドイツ文化、ドイツの風景などについて話してくれました。また、電気通信大学の工藤・木村研究室でのロボット学習に関する研究についても紹介しました。英語での講演でしたが、熱心に聴講した学生の感想では、ドイツの年中行事、労働スタイル、歴史に加えて、Antonia さんの弁当箱のパッキングロボットの研究について興味深く聞いていました。また、中東由来の肉料理であるケバブがドイツでとても人気があることに強い印象を受けたようです。

On December 7, 2020 (Monday), a school visit by international students of our university was held at Toho Girls' Junior and Senior High School. After the welcome speech in English and French by the students of the school, (Clara Hertzog international student, 2nd year doctoral student ) talk about the companies and culture of her home country, France. She also shared her studies on the virtual reality research at the Nojima laboratory of the university. She gave a lecture in English, and according to the impressions of the students who listened enthusiastically, through the lecture, it seems that French people value work-life balance and that it is important to properly convey their opinions to the other party. In addition, some students were impressed by the state-of-the-art research content of Mr. Clara.

2020年12月7日(月) 、本学の留学生による出張講義を桐朋女子中学・高等学校にて実施しました。同校の生徒による英語でのウェルカム・スピーチに続き、留学生（Clara Hertzogさん、博士課程2年 ）の母国であるフランスの企業や文化と、本学の野島研究室で取り組んでいるバーチャル・リアリティ研究について英語で講義しました。熱心に聞いていた生徒たちの感想文によると、講義を通じて、フランス人はワークライフバランスを大切にしていることや、自分の意見をきちんと相手に伝えることを大切にしていることを実感したようです。発表を通じてフランスに行ってみたい気持ちも芽生えてきたそうです。また、Claraさんの研究内容が最先端であることが印象に残った生徒もいました。

On December 9, 2020 (Wednesday), a business trip lecture by international students of our university was held at Kiri Tomo Girls' Junior and Senior High School. After the welcome lecture in English by the students of the school, Patrick Tchicali, 2nd year master's student talk about the culture, sports, and sightseeing spots of Cameroon, also he shared his research topic at the Shono Itsu laboratory. He gave a lecture on AI in English. According to the impressions of the students who listened enthusiastically, through the lecture, the students learned that Cameroon uses two official languages and more than 250 languages, and that each person's individuality is important. In addition, some students were interested in AI, which is Patrick's research. 2020年12月9日(水) 、本学の留学生による出張講義を桐朋女子中学・高等学校にて実施しました。同校の生徒による英語でのウェルカム・スピーチに続き、留学生（Patrick Tchicaliさん、修士2年次）の母国であるカメルーンの文化やスポーツ、観光地についてと、本学の庄野逸研究室で取り組んでいるAIについて英語で講義しました。熱心に聞いていた生徒たちの感想文によると、講義を通じて、カメルーンには２つの公用語と２５０以上の言語が使用されていることや、一人一人の個性が大切であることを学びました。また、Patrickさんの研究内容であるAIについて興味が湧いた生徒もいました。
